The Grand Tour
« on: 09-02-2018, 17:04:58 »
Watching The Grand Tour, they had an award for the worst car. The contenders were:

Mini Countryman
Renault Kadjur
Nissan Juke

The called the award a "Nigel"

The car getting the NIgel was the Nissan Juke.

It is a great programme, in my view far superior to Top Gear. The humour between Clarkson, May and Hammond is incredible.
Harley Quin is a mystery. He appears and disappears unexpectedly and by strange tricks of light and reflections; making his clothes seem brightly multicoloured like the theatrical Harlequin.

Was there a particular reason for calling the award a Nigel, Harley?  ;)

Well all I can say is I have had my Nissan Juke for 3 years now and I love it, I always knew Clarkson had no taste! ;D

I remember when the Skoda was laughable junk. Hey, presto, the VW group step in and now it's a prestige car. Money talks. What next, the Lada. I find Clarkson a repugnant windbag, but that's what he's being paid to be ....

I assume Clarkson considers Nigel to be a nerdy/awful name. Personally, I would have called the awards "Jeremys"

I'm no fan of Clarkson, but I do love the programme.

It hasn't reached Oz yet. I like what Hammond and May have done on other shows. I believe Matt LeBlanc was going to appear on Top Gear. What's happening with that show?

Chris Evans took the lead and it flopped. I have no idea if it will return.

The Grand Tour is currently being shown on Amazon Prime - new shows are added on Fridays.

Good job you're not called Nigel then, Harley.

HQ,
You probably remember an old friend on another forum who would argue that you can’t have an award for the worst car without defining ‘Worst’ or ‘Best’, and then he would go on about his Rolls Royce before someone else pointed out that such a car would be the worst car for most motorists as it won’t fit into a normal parking space.
As for "Jeremys" they do seem to be gaining quite a presence on the television what with Clarkson, Kyle, Paxman and Vine, or so I’ve heard

I certainly do. I also remember the arguments between the both of you. If I'd been moderating that forum, you'd've both been locked in the Tower!  :D

HQ,
Yes, and in hindsight I regret rising to Richard’s bait as often as I did - but it was difficult letting his comments about Wetherspoons, microwaves and 24 hour clocks go unanswered.

“like what Hammond and May have done on other shows” – er, in the Commons as Chancellor of the Exchequer and Prime Minister ?
